Model 653V (Horizontal)

The model 653V centrifuge spins 12 tubes in a horizontal rotor. The unit arrives ready for use with included rotor and tube holders, push button operation, and mechanical knob speed control. The centrifuge features a preset run time of 10 minutes at any selected RPM; this time setting can be changed if desired, but is not designed for frequent adjustment. With variable speed control, electronic braking, and an audible end of run indicator, the 653V provides high performance in a small footprint.

Applications

The model 653V is a fixed runtime, variable speed laboratory centrifuge. Adjustable RPM allows the unit to spin tubes from all major manufacturers in preparation for chemistry testing and coagulation.

Model 653V (Fixed-Angle)

The model 653V fixed-angle centrifuge offers two configurations: 20 6-10 mL tubes in a fixed-angle rotor (standard), or 6 tubes of 50 mL capacity in a fixed-angle rotor. All configurations include rotor and tube holders, and all have the same push button operation and speed control. The centrifuge arrives with a preset run time of 10 minutes at any selected RPM; this time setting can be changed if desired, but is not designed for frequent adjustment. RPM speed can be adjusted easily with a dial whenever desired.

Applications

The model 653V centrifuge is a continuous duty, electronically controlled variable speed laboratory centrifuge. The 653V provides affordability and flexibility when processing specimens for analysis on site. Uses include blood chemistry specimens, urine, platelet rich plasma (PRP), and platelet poor plasma (PPP).

Fixed-Angle vs Horizontal Centrifugation

Fixed-angle centrifuges, although less expensive, produce gel layers that may be susceptible to rupture during transport. These damaged samples cannot be used without an additional centrifugation step; yet the CLSI recommends against re-centrifugation for its known negative effects on analytical results.
