Model 642VFD (Horizontal)

The Model 642VFD is a flexible voltage, higher g-force version of the popular clinical centrifuge 642E. The built-in universal power supply and UL/CE safety approvals allow for use around the world. This centrifuge features a preset run time of 10 minutes at 2,000 xg g-force; these settings can be changed if desired, but are not designed for frequent adjustment. Model 642VFD (Fixed-Angle)

The model 642VFD-Fixed-Angle is a global fixed-angle centrifuge with built-in universal power supply and UL/CE safety approvals. Single button operation allows for easy repeatability. The pre-set time and speed (10 minutes at 3,900 RPM/1,600 xg) provides the recommended spin for many of the most common tube types. The pre-set can be adjusted, but the unit is not designed for frequent time and speed adjustment.

Applications

This fixed-angle rotor centrifuge provides reliable, single button centrifugation for most standard blood tubes processed for chemistry or coag.

Fixed-Angle vs Horizontal Centrifugation

Fixed-angle centrifuges, although less expensive, produce gel layers that may be susceptible to rupture during transport. These damaged samples cannot be used without an additional centrifugation step; yet the CLSI recommends against re-centrifugation for its known negative effects on analytical results.
