How the SERO 12 Replaces the Discontinued Sero-Fuge™
Published June 23, 2026For years, the BD Sero-Fuge™ was the best-selling blood banking centrifuge in the world, and serology labs everywhere built their blood grouping, typing, cross matching, and cell washing routines around it. With the Sero-Fuge discontinued, those labs needed a replacement that keeps their validated workflows in place.
The SERO 12 is that replacement. Drucker Diagnostics worked closely with BD to design it as a true drop-in for the Sero-Fuge, using the exact same rotors and accessories. Labs can move to a new blood banking centrifuge while keeping their existing serology processes intact, and every unit arrives ready to run, right out of the box.
A Drop-In Replacement for the Sero-Fuge
Switching centrifuges often means revalidating cycles and retraining staff. The SERO 12 keeps that to a minimum. Because it uses the exact same rotors and accessories as the Sero-Fuge, it drops straight into your existing setup, and your serology processes can continue unchanged.
Each SERO 12 arrives ready-to-run with the standard 12-place swing-out rotor and is fully compatible with all Sero-Fuge accessories, so the transition stays simple for your team and your workflow.
SERO 12 vs. Sero-Fuge
On the specs your validated cycles depend on, the SERO 12 matches the Sero-Fuge point for point. It also expands the interface from a single setting to 10 programmable cycles.

Designed for Efficient Serology Processing
Removable rotors let you load, spin, and incubate tubes without moving them between devices, and programmable settings keep operation simple. The result is less handling and better-protected sample integrity.
Easy to use. The fully digital display lets you adjust cycle parameters on the fly in 5- or 15-second increments, or recall one of 10 saved programs. Stored cycles simplify validation, and numbered tube positions make identification quick.
No individual handling. Tubes can be batch filled, centrifuged, transported, incubated, and emptied using interchangeable heads that double as carriers.
Easy to monitor. LED lid lighting shows cycle status at a glance: off when the centrifuge is ready to load, on while running, and flashing when the cycle finishes.
Safe and durable. The auto-pop lid locks securely during a run and opens on its own when the spin is done. A brushless motor and reinforced carbon fiber components support years of operation with no routine maintenance, and the clear, shatterproof lid allows for safe sample observation and optical calibrations.
