TrueBond TriFLEX vs. Unico PowerSpin DX: Which Veterinary Centrifuge Is Right for Your Clinic?
Published April 7, 2026The TrueBond TriFLEX and Unico PowerSpin DX are horizontal veterinary centrifuges built for routine blood, urine, and fecal processing. They differ substantially in rotor type, tube compatibility, application coverage, and price. Here’s how they compare.
TLDR
- The TrueBond TriFLEX handles the widest tube range (2 mL to 140 mL) and includes microhematocrit capability and all accessories out of the box.
- The Unico PowerSpin DX is a horizontal rotor unit with similar top speed but limited to 15 mL tubes in its standard configuration; 50 mL support requires a separate rotor purchase.
How do the centrifuges compare?
The TrueBond TriFLEX is a multifunctional veterinary centrifuge built to replace the discontinued Clay Adams Triac centrifuge. It spins tubes from 2 mL up to 140 mL, including microhematocrit, all in the same rotor with no swaps required. Every accessory needed to run blood chemistry, fecal, urine, microhematocrit, PRP, semen, and custom disposables is included in the purchase price.
The Unico PowerSpin DX is a capable workhorse for standard veterinary sample processing. It offers a similar top speed and three application presets, but ships with a single 6-place horizontal rotor for tubes up to 15 mL. Spinning 50 mL tubes or adding capacity requires separate rotor purchases.

Where does the TrueBond TriFLEX have the edge?
Highest maximum g-force. At 2,950 xg, the TriFLEX generates significantly more centrifugal force than theUnico model at 1,848 xg. That difference matters for PRP and semen analysis, which require higher RCF to achieve proper separation.
Widest tube compatibility, standard. The TriFLEX handles tubes from 2 mL to 140 mL without any additional purchases. The DX tops out at 15 mL in standard configuration; 50 mL support requires a separate rotor.
Microhematocrit support, included. The TriFLEX spins up to 8 microhematocrit tubes up to 75 mm in the same rotor. The DX doesn’t include MHT in any configuration
Most application coverage out of the box. Blood chemistry, fecal, urine, microhematocrit, microtube, PRP, and semen disposable accommodations all included.
Universal voltage. The TriFLEX runs on 100–240 VAC. The DX is 110V only.
Documented warranty. Drucker Diagnostics provides a stated 2-year parts and labor warranty with extended warranty options available on the TriFLEX. Unico does not specify their warranty terms.
Which one should your clinic choose?
The TrueBond TriFLEX is the best fit for full-service clinics running a broad mix of sample types, particularly if microhematocrit, PRP, semen, or large-volume tubes are part of the regular workflow. The higher RCF ceiling, wider tube compatibility, and fully included accessories mean you’re unlikely to outgrow it. The higher upfront price covers what would otherwise be separate rotor and adapter purchases on either Unico model.
The Unico PowerSpin DX may be sufficient for practices that run only standard blood, urine, and fecal tubes in a single 15 mL format, have a tighter equipment budget, and have no plans to add microhematocrit or large-volume tube capabilities.
For most full-service veterinary practices, the TriFLEX’s broader capability and lower total cost of ownership make it the more practical long-term investment, especially once accessory costs are factored in.
